Wayfair Alumni, Kate Westervelt, raises angel round for her company, Mombox fom Wayfund, TBD Angels, and Big Tech Execs
Mombox, a company founded by Wayfair alumni, Kate Westervelt, has closed on their angel investment from Wayfund, TBD Angels, and execs from Amazon, Uber, Facebook, and Drizly. Kate is leading the way in delivering curated kits of postnatal care products focused on moms rather than children.
Meredith Mahoney, fellow Wayfair alum and investor in Mombox wrote: “What attracted us most to Mombox was two fold: (1) Kate herself, and (2) the gap in the market of assisting moms, rather than purely the baby, in post-natal care. Many of our investors are parents ourselves, and we know that this market has been drastically underserved. We believe there's a big opportunity here, and her revenues and market traction are proving it out. And also, I'd be remiss to say that many of us have worked directly alongside her at Wayfair, meaning we know her intimately, her work style, her energy, and her passion for solving this problem. We invest in people, and Kate is someone we're betting on for the future."
With ~20 Wayfair alumni investing via the Wayfund, Mombox represents the groups largest investment to date. The team of investors include individuals from multiple disciplines: product, marketing, product design, engineering, ops, sales, finance, and more. These investors and supporters plan to be an active sounding board for Kate. It’s what makes Wayfund special: experienced Operators helping their fellow alumni win.
